The front row has less legroom in the sense there is a bulkhead in front so you can't stretch your legs under the seat in front, unlike other rows. However, there is a lot of knee room in row 1, and there is more than enough space to the extent if you are in the window you can easily get past the aisle seat without the passenger moving.
Row 1 also has nobody reclining into you.
With regards to the "less legroom so you can't stretch your legs" - this is dependent upon your height.
I'm 170cm / 5'7" so I can stretch all the way out quite happily without hitting the bulkhead.
Even on occasions when my toes do touch the bulkhead (like in row 1 on the E190), the extra space at face level and not having any risk of people reclining into me makes it all worthwhile.
