I have had a return flight booked for a few months now for mid September - JL10 to ORD. I booked first class through Alaska. This week I get an email from Alaska saying they need to rebook me. Apparently the plane has changed from the 777-300 to a 787-9 and so I was changed to J class.

Should I expect any points being returned? If I recall correctly, there was ~15k point difference between biz and first. Also, I was really looking forward to flying in first, any chance I could find availability closer to September? I have no problem flying into anywhere in the US, although from what I’ve read JAL only has first class to 3-4 US destinations
