I've been searching but can't find any clear guidance... I have a reservation that's been fully ticketed for a one-way domestic award. Happened to run a search today and the same itinerary is available now for far fewer points. What's the safest way to get a refund of the difference in points? Can I book a new reservation then cancel the old one or will duplicate booking logic give me trouble? Should I just call in and ask someone for the mileage back?
I would book (or hold) the new, lower-priced award now -- while it's still available -- and then
immediately cancel the old, higher-priced award for a refund.
