Wow, the JW Macau really is something else - this is one of the nicest designed JWs I have ever seen, and the treatment here is quite strong. It's not perfect, but I can see why Galaxy Macau is a strong destination, especially for those who wish to take advantage of the large amount of outdoor water activities (all open, including the lazy river and wave pool). Here are my pros, cons, and photos:

Pros:
  • Upgraded to an Executive Suite, which ended up facing the pool complex and was on the top floor of the JW portion (I believe the Ritz is above the JW) on floor "31" - oddly, 29 and 30 were missing from the elevator - this upgrade showed up in app the night before arrival
  • Very busy check-in, but after the line associate realized I wasn't sure what she was saying in Cantonese after asking her where Ambassadors check in, she had me quickly escorted to the 2nd floor Executive Club for a much calmer check-in (guess I look like a Cantonese speaker ;-) - she giggled after looking up at me)
  • The suite is a full suite with 1.5 bathroom and a large walk-in closet
  • The design is really quite strong - this looks more like a Ritz or STR than a JW, IMO
  • Living room couch was really plush
  • Shower pressure from the rainfall head was very nice and strong
  • Delivered a great tower of desserts and fruit - really enjoyed the macaron, chocolate cake, and caramel tart
  • Executive Club offering is quite strong
    • Afternoon tea is served a la carte and had a good iced mocha
    • Evening service is large with a pour-your-own drinks bar (along with a staff member to assist), noodle chef, etc
    • SO MANY MACARONS AS DESSERT CHOICES
  • Was directly offered breakfast in either the 1st floor Urban Kitchen restaurant or 2nd floor Club Lounge - you can tell Urban Kitchen can get busy as the tables were spilling out into the hallway, but it was not busy at 7 AM (I had a table right next to the buffet)
    • Nice chef-made omelet
    • Crispy hashbrown
    • Loved the Cantonese fried milk - first time to try
    • Nice blueberry muffin
    • Tasty mochas
  • Offered late checkout - no issue with the 3 PM I requested
  • Service at the lounge was fantastic
    • Inga, the club lounge manager, came to greet me and had a lovely 20-minute conversation at check-out (the staff had me sit and have a beverage of my choice before I left) about our experiences with languages, etc.
    • Victory and the rest of the team were very helpful and friendly
Neutral:
  • The mattress needs some updating - it was quite firm, and the topper seemed to be uneven - I still slept well despite the thinner covers, but the pillows were great - it reminded me of my older bed at home - marking this as neutral as I slept well
Cons:
  • No Internet streaming options on the TV
Overall, I would absolutely return to the JW.
