weather or ops

Or, consider MSY on Saturday. There was snow and freezing rain. But the FAA web site indicated that MSY was operating with delay of less than 15 minutes. But, by early afternoon, there was no deicing fluid at the airport so planes on the ground stayed there and incoming flights were cancelled. Is not having the deicing fluid a weather problem or an operations problem caused by poor planning? The snow had been forecast on Tuesday, the airlines could have sent the fluid in from ATL, MEM, DFW.
DL is claiming weather, as they did on Sunday when my Comair flight was cancelled -- the claim was still trying to position planes and crews.
All in all, not DLs best performance.
