Not that I would have fessed up to having alcoholic beverages in there anyway if they were asking and I had noticed, because as you said that's a pretty absurd rule unless you're bringing pure alcohol like Everclear.
It got more absurd as then it was found out that it was not a DOTR/CAAP rule but an internal AirAsia rule. It got more ridiculous because then we discovered that you can actually buy a bottle from the little shop just before the security screening and carry it in your hand luggage. But you had to buy from there and get it packed in there. So a bottle of cheap Tanduay was bought and given back for the expensive bottle of wine that was repacked and hand carried instead of the checked luggage. This was in T4 of course.
