I have a couple of “Blue” friends who have the Premium Plus 241 voucher and enough avios to get to Sydney but they have run into the brick wall of lack of availability. Based near London. Have found economy availability from Newcastle where dates might work but they would prefer at least WT+ and I’d prefer they went in business but that doesn’t seem to be a deal breaker for them.



I have spare GUFs. I know when I booked recently with GUF for similar flight all I needed was F/I selling class but that was doing it all in one fell swoop.



I can’t work out if there is a way to make the booking with their 241 and my GUF in one go so as to avoid the need for avios seats being available. I “think” they have to pay if using their 241 and the t&cs for GUF say I have to pay for using that. Have I understood that right or is there a workaround?



I think (from what I’ve read) that if we could find avios seats for their dates they could book and I could apply the GUF afterwards but that doesn’t help find the seats in the first place. And would I then just need relevant selling class?

Edited to ask after reading another thread - Could I use one of my jokers to open up award space for them?

Any advice/inspiration very gratefully accepted.
