My wife and I are planning a trip to Perth late next June in Business and had planned to use Avios to book a flight to Perth on Qatar. We can leave from LAX, SFO, or SEA. I began checking about two weeks ago, and every day when flights opened up, there was availability from at least one of the three options, usually all of them. That was the case until a few days ago. Now there’s been no availability for days. Any ideas what’s happened and whether this is an aberration? (Also I’m not really interested in going through London - although that too has not been available - too many stops; too many fees.)
I’’d love to use Qantas, but neither Avios nor AAdvantage miles work on Qantas or American. Similarly United miles doesn’t work on United or Air New Zealand. For example, if you enter LAX to PER, the only option given is the Qatar option - not even a London option is given. If it opens, we’ll probably spend a day in Doha on the trip. I’m exploring just flying to SYD, since there are plenty of Avios available flights from SYD to PER. However, there’s no availability on that routing either. I’m exploring just buying tickets, but would like to use up some miles - and I have well over half a million Avios.
Avois and AAdvantage miles *do* work on QF & AA
if there is 2 off business award validity. A very big
if.
From Hawaai (HNL?) a very big diversion to DOH. PER can be awkward to get to

QF fly HNL-BNE/SYD/MEL (check)
Looked at avios on JL?
FJ can get you to HNL-NAN-BNE/SYD/MEL, then QF to PER
And HA if you have AA ff miles.
Remember SYD is not the only international airport in Australia
Air NZ is very stingy with awards to ff partners. 2 off business awards is harder. But does fly AKL-PER.
