If you scroll up a bit you can see some relevant discussion a few days ago on this issue. I think it's very unlikely 35k would be worth $2000 as a pure mileage run, but in narrow circumstances it could be. I think people tend to think of this as 35k vs 25k, whereas the real question (for you, this year) is (35k with early recognition + 35k next year) vs 25k next year. The difference is 40 more eups (30 this year for early recognition plus 10 more next year than if you were 25k). For me, 40 eups would be worth $2k, since I tend to book latitude ex-europe and 40 eups would = 3 overnight legs upgraded to J plus 1 day leg upgraded to PY. I'd happily pay $2k for that. If I could buy 40 eups for $2k I definitely would. (But I wouldn't fly a long distance to pick them up, if you see what I mean.) But this case is unusual. Only you know how much use you would get out of those eups.

Depending on anticipated spend next year, the improved priority rewards might be worth a lot. I personally have limited interest in USA/Canada reward travel, but bring the Caribbean into the picture and things change.
