Sorry should have mentioned - this was all on an NZ ticket, it was a multi stop WLG-AKL-DPS (NZ) | DPS-SIN (SQ) | SIN-AKL-WLG (NZ).
About an hour out from landing in AKL, the ISM approached me and let me know that ground staff were aware my SIN-AKL flight was late and to please disembark and clear customs promptly, but also reassured me that if I missed my connection that I’d be rebooked on the next available flight. (“Clearing customs promptly” turned out to be a moot point anyway as I was standing at the baggage carousel for 40 mins before bags were finally unloaded).
I understand the ground staff in SIN are not full time with Air NZ or anything but still find it surprising they weren’t able to sort this for me at check in.
