NZ have historically proactively rebooked pax and I've had maybe 2 or 3 occasions where I've had the ISM deliver me a piece of paper with my new domestic connection on it. This isn't just a status thing either - one time I was chatting about this and there were about 30 of these to deliver around the whole plane (which did include connections to Australia as these were flights from the US).
