There is another thread that I couldn't find that talks of AKL connection times for DOM-INTL and vv.
As TK pointed out above, you risk no-showing for your AKL-ORD by leaving CHC/ZQN on a separate PNR.
If it were me, I would call NZ assuming that is who you bought through and see if an add on is possible without breaking the bank, or fly up day before.

Later this month I fly AKL-YVR-YKA on an AC ticket but NZ metal but want to leave from TRG. AC.com couldn't handle the NZ domestic sector so I had to book it separately.
The TRG-AKL I chose leaves me an unnecessary 5.5 hour connection time in AKL, however in the event that flight is going to be delayed or cancelled, I can drive to AKL in enough time.
