Yeah, I don't remember them asking about that, but I fly so much that I don't even pay much attention to what they are asking at that stage because it's generally about power banks and smart luggage. So just automatically say no without even really listening or looking at the chart (if they have one.. they are obsessed with charts in Japan).

Not that I would have fessed up to having alcoholic beverages in there anyway if they were asking and I had noticed, because as you said that's a pretty absurd rule unless you're bringing pure alcohol like Everclear.
