Not with CX directly but I was able to get my travel agent to reissue my HKG to MEL tickets to I class as they were originally P class.
btw, this issue also occurs with LH where a P class ticket on LH is not eligible for miles and points on TK. Seems to be a weird phenomenon affecting several airlines
