Pay the seat charge for two seats in row 30 or row 42. Row 30 is the row at the break between Prem. E and E so you get unlimited leg room. Row 42 is another break row but you are close to the back and the lavs are in front of you but again, lots of leg room. I would compare the cost of those seats--fare plus seat fees--to upgrading to Premium E. As Jonisflying said, no way I would 17 hours in an standard E seat on any airplane.
My vote would be to buy an extra/comfort seat if possible. Sure 2 seats is better than a stranger between but the extra space is the bigger game changer imo
