That’s not much of a solution for UA’s problems at EWR at this point. Fewer flight movements at EWR and less congested airspace would do far more, but this is not going to happen enough nor easily. Unless and until UA and the other airlines are subject to strict liability for delays on some sort of creative basis that strongly incentivizes UA and other airlines to internalize, jointly and severally, the costs for inconveniencing the booked travelers using EWR and even clogging up the air corridors in the region, these kind of messes will continue to be a feature of UA@EWR.
