Will Air NZ check bags through to final destination on two Air NZ tickets/PNRs? If the domestic leg gets delayed or cancelled and we misconnect, will Air NZ be helpful?
Some reports of NZ doing this, but YMMV! You carry all the risk of a mis-connect and ZQN can have weather issues (wind in Summer).

1. maybe, but under no obligation to do so
2. mis-connect means you’d be a ‘no show’ at AKL. I doubt NZ would be ‘helpful’ beyond meeting the requirements of your ticket (ie it flexible).
