It's a bit odd as I was specifically offered restaurant breakfast without choosing it as a welcome gift - at legacy Starwood, I always ask as you should be able to get it by forgoing the 1000 points. Perhaps, that was an Ambassador thing?

Regardless, I always appreciate when staff are upfront about breakfast choices so that guests don't have to ask probing questions that can sometimes feel a tad DYKWIA.
