She could probably have booked a 3 or 4 hour connection in the first place which (while there's always still the chance of things going badly wrong on the day) would likely have been a much less stressful experience.
This isn't meant as a particular criticism of your sister - I know it's very common for many people not to scrutinise the details when booking flights - but it's worth considering.
(One footnote - it can happen that you purposefully book a longer connection but then the airline changes the schedule which shortens it after booking. That can be very annoying, sometimes you might have to lump it if relatively minor, but often in that case you can request a change to sort it out.)
Absolutely..... in fact when she planned this trip ( I always help them pick flights) we did plan on an early flight out of Paris but somehow the AA CSR convinced them to take the " legal connecting" flight " that would shorten their journey. I was not aware until yesterday's panic email that they had chosen a different flight then what I suggested. Not to mention to NOT take one of the last flights of the day.....in case things go south.
Lesson learned and your valuable tip retained.
