I don’t think there is any sense of routes serving time in t3 purgatory and then moving back when all is forgiven so they can come back to T5. It’s usually based on connecting traffic, but OTP was very much a T3 stalwart pre covid so I wouldn’t expect it to move to T5 anytime soon.
OTP was only at T3 between W2011-W2013 and after that it only operated from T5(until S22).It’s unusual as it’s the route which used a lot of the A321s when it was at T5.I’m guessing it’s most likely tourists from America coming from AA or Delta connecting at T3 onto a BA flight to OTP.OTP was much better at T5 aircraft wise.They used a mix of A320/A321 aircraft now all you see on OTP flights is ex BMI A320s.
