I guess this must have been at T4? In T3 where the Caticlan (Boracay) flights are, there aren't any airline staff at the security entrance. That also may well be why my backpack wasn't even looked at (both check-in and at the gate) while others seem to report in the Philippines there are frequent weight checks. AirAsia doesn't have very many T3 flights, I think Caticlan and Cebu are the only ones currently. But Cebu Pacific does have quite a few flights there, and definitely no minder before entering security. I saw one couple come with a VERY large bag down the escalator (no idea how they even got it through security without security staff themselves saying something, it was about the size of a full sized 30-32 inch check in bag). The Cebu Pacific staff noticed when they came down the escalator to the bus gates and presumably forced them to check it there.
