Opens crew bases away from ewr which rely on commuting to staff the lines and irrops. Has a scheduling center/system which went offline during irrops which stranded crew and created unnecessary cascade of further delays. If there is a known limitation in your system it needs to be managed/mitigated not blamed.
Respectfully disagree with this. Adding additional bases outside of EWR would help the operation in my opinion.
I don’t remember the exact number but 70+% of EWR pilots commute there and do not live in the NY/NJ/PA/CT region. Those of us commuting, the vast majority live in Florida. It’s no coincidence they recently opened and MCO base and will probably have a pure TPA or PBI/FLL/MIA base as well once the new contract comes around.
