But where Virgin really falls down is in its route network, with BA you can fly pretty much anywhere from London, Virgin is much more limited, so if you're a loyal Virgin customer, whenever you fly anywhere they don't (especially short haul routes), you can't benefit from your ff perks, unless you're flying to a Skyteam hub, or you connect through one.

Also on the topic of IATA codes, the code for Mumbai is BOM (as in Bombay), not MUM.
As someone that does mostly intra Europe, with only 4-5 long haul's a year, and on average only 1-2 US trips a year, BA is a much more obvious fit for my travel patterns.
