Looks like a bad idea to me. If airport security opens up whatever tape you put on them, what will stop your belongings from ending up all over the tarmac?

I'd look around for cheap suitcases, maybe from a charity shop, that you can use once and donate. Airlines understand suitcases, their systems are set up to handle suitcases. I doubt they can handle plastic tubs without damaging them, especially as they don't appear to have handles and would require staff to put their arms around the crates and lift them.
