I was just in SF last week and do not consider the city safe anymore. I saw two homeless people accost pedestrians (one in finance district) and another man bash a car near the Ritz. I don't know about HR specifically (client put me up at Nikko), but nearly everyone I spoke to had been a victim of crime in the last year, some violent.

I don't consider keeping my backseat down so criminals can see I'm not carrying anything comfortable. 2 of my friends had their cars broken Into in the last six months.

I'm avoiding SF for a while unless forced to go for business. I don't know about other us cities but SF dangerous enough for me to reconsider visiting.
