IDB and forced downgrade on EY, booked through AP seeking advice

Hi all,

I booked a flex ticket on EY in J using aeroplan. Full routing is YYZ-AUH-PKX; EY140 then EY888. I had a stop over in AUH. When I’m at AUH to check in for my PKX flight (cannot OLCI), I was told EY888 was oversold in J and I was bumped. Two options offered were either:
  1. Fly in Y
  2. Travel the next day.
I choose to swallow the bitter pill by sitting on the back of the bus. EY refused to provide any compensation. So, how do I reach out to aeroplan about the refund of at least the difference between J and Y for EY888? My fear is AP is treating a mixed-cabin ticket as the same mileage as the all-business cabin ticket. Is this within CTA’s jurisdiction if aeroplan won’t budge?

P.S. In retrospect, EY handles the downgrade horribly. No advanced notification at all. Refuse to re-route (agent first suggested AUH-ICN-PEK then backtrack). I just felt like I’m completely helpless when airlines decide to IDB and downgrade me. If you were in my position, what’s the best course of action?

Sorry for the rant and thanks in advance.
