Thank you for the great report as always. Sounds like your stay was better than perhaps I expected based on other recent reviews especially the EL lounge experience. It’s quite impressive that they open the lounge at 7am for coffee etc. TBH I don’t understand the refusal to upgrade you given availability of other rooms and then the subsequent lies - at that point it would have cost the hotel nothing and created a good impression with you. I had a couple of small upgrades at Hamptons recently - they didn’t have to upgrade me but it created a very good first impression when they did so, making it much more likely that I’ll return.
Cheers….. it’s cool, I have no problem with not being upgraded, you can’t win em all but silly lies annoy me, if they said that they was expecting to sell the rooms even after 3pm then yes wrong but fair enough but to tell me they are fully booked when they clearly aren’t is disappointing and unprofessional.
Shower in room was actually quite powerful but it’s an over the Bath affair with a double curtain.
BREAKFAST - arrived here 8am, few folk around but not busy, managed to get a window seat overlooking the bridge, decent selection of food which was all to a good standard, did try the raspberry croissant out of curiosity from the recommendations on here….very nice!…., there is a door behind reception desk to an outside seating area with astroturfing and chairs , I took a takeaway coffee here and this was pleasant in the morning sun.
CHECK OUT - done this at the desk as parking needs to be validated, it’s complimentary for diamonds.
CONCLUSION - it was a good stay apart from the obvious as mentioned earlier, casting that aside I have no complaints, everything seemed to kinda work out well…got to mention Benjamin the executive lounge host was absolutely brilliant, he looked after me , kept topping my glass up and was thoroughly pleasant.
I would return.
