Do I still need a minimum of 4 segments on AA themselves to attain status?
A few years back (pre-pandemic) I used to have Executive Platinum (OneWorld Emerald) status with American. Eventually I flew so much I've achieved lifetime Gold (OneWorld Ruby). I stopped flying for a while, and so dropped down to that lifetime level, and more recently I've resumed, but I don't anticipate going to the US much at all - I'm based in the UK and will almost always be using BA.
I'm not sure how much I'll be flying - probably not as much as before - so not quite sure what status level I'll reach. I'd like to continue using my AAdvantage number rather than signing up for BA Exec Club given I'll be guaranteed business class check-in etc. for "life", but I wanted to check - does AA still require 4 segments per year on AA themselves to get status? That certainly used to be the case, but AA seems to have changed their earning program a few times since and I can no longer find a reference to this. It's not impossible I'll reach at least Platinum (OneWorld Sapphire) status, I just can't be sure.
If I use AAdvantage exclusively with BA, anything else I need to be aware of?
