Two years since the last post, this glitch still exists. I just received notice of a flight change for an October 2023 itinerary. No option to change seats online but the AA app worked perfectly fine and I was able to change seats.

I was just about to DM Twitter when my friend emailed me and said she went into the AA iOS App and it let her choose seats.
So definitely a website problem, that *may* be worked around using the app. I did not know that, but now it's good to know.
