I have the miles for Advantage and would splurge if opportunity presented itself. Should I expect that a paid upgrade will be the difference between J and F, and no other discount to incentivize someone to pay cash for the upgrade?

Somewhat surprising, I would think they would prefer to get some value for an otherwise empty seat... but I guess there is some logic to preserving the cachet of the product by not discounting the product.

I understand that you can see how full flights are by either doing a dummy booking to see seats available, or that you can use something like Exp Flyer to see availability leading up to departure, but how would someone be able learn how full the cabin is actually at departure....... the final count versus the seats taken, say one day prior to the flight, it seems, would indicate if SQ opened Suites for upgrades on the day of flight.
