Arrived at 11-30am, didn’t even try to check in as not upgraded and way before time so went for a walk around Newcastle .
Returned at 3pm, and joined the long queue at FD, to be fair it went down fairly quickly, checked in, no upgrade offered so I politely asked if one available but was told the hotel is fully booked so none available.
I again politely pointed out that all rooms was available to book online there and then ( I checked on the app whilst waiting ) .
I have no problem with no upgrade but to be lied to I find very disappointing!…. I was told that due to some event the rooms will be sold……like I say…disappointing!

DOUBLE HILTON GUEST ROOM - king size bed ( European) it’s a reasonable size, everything fine but feels a little grubby, nothing bad but it’s old and worn.

BATHROOM - has bath ( with shower overhead) no robes!

SPA - had time for a quick sauna , it’s nice , nothing great but everything works and the sauna was very hot!….changing rooms clean and tidy.

EXECUTIVE LOUNGE - I’m here now happy hour is 5-7 Friday/Saturday 6-8 weekdays.
It’s now 5-10pm and I was expecting huge crowds but it’s quite peaceful with only a few folk in here…nice views of the bridge.

CANAPÉS- awesome salad bowl, falafel, spicy pork meatballs, hummus and flatbreads, tortillas.
It’s a reasonable selection, unfortunately no cheeseboard..
So far very pleasant…..will report back!
