Yes, the elusive 1 King Junior Suite Living (57sqm) is the minimum upgrade you should receive. Though honestly if paying points or cash I would go standard room and take the Premier View room. The rooms are big ~50sqms by Japanese standards and well designed to a high spec, nothing really cheap there. The Jr. Suite has a bit different layout and a small 2-seater sofa, but is not worth a much higher rate in my book.
The only reason I booked it is that our corporate rate is the same for Standard or Premier room and as such, ok, I take the highest room category for the same money. Else I would save the cash and get Standard room with upgrade for AMB as the differences are marginal. Of course, from a Premier room the chance of an upgrade beyond the Jr. suite may be better than from a basic room.
While I haven't stayed at the voco, the location is not a favorite for me and the IC Osaka is an excellent hotel. Of course, easy for me to say as voco regular rates is still higher than our corporate rate at IC Osaka so there is no question where I would stay. IC Osaka are very strict on verifying the corporate credentials though (which is good), so if I didn't have that option the voco may be more interesting for sure as regular rates at the IC can go up to 90-100k JPY a night which is just insane. YMMV.
