How about you and your friends? How much do you know about the flight time before you leave? Do you look at a map, a globe, or an atlas while you plan your international trips?
I would have little reason to look at such things, I have enough of a picture of how the world is laid out that it would be unlikely I couldn't ballpark what would be involved. I would be looking at routing maps to see how to get there, not overall maps to see where it was. At one point I could have put every country on the map with reasonable accuracy but I haven't kept up with all the changes.
I have never asked anyone I know about their knowledge of the world.
