Wow, that seems way fast versus other reports here.

I applied May 26, 2023 and my status is still under preliminary inspection. Applied via the Global Entry card holder category and have tickets for a late August arrival into Haneda. Last trip was February 2023. I wonder how they prioritize applications. My passport expires in March of 2024 so I wonder if that's a factor in their decision making. Don't judge, I know, I want the card primarily so I don't have to carry my passport around. I should have submitted my passport for renewal immediately upon returning from my last visit in mid-March, but waited too long and then realized I could be bumping up against the August trip without a passport. Oops. Planning to submit immediately upon return in October hoping that the passport office has caught up a bit and will have a turnaround in time for the next trip after that which would be late February 2024.
