I’m in a similar boat as an AC SE and booked in Latitude B across 4 LH segments on a 014 ticket. If AC is absorbing the charge I highly doubt they’ll let me (and my AC*G wife, and my daughter) pre select on all 4 legs as that would be 12 seat selection charges! That said… maybe they will. I’ll try the concierge and report back…

edit: just called the concierge… for me the response was that it was LH operated so “their airline, their rules”

While I appreciate that it isn’t a *G benefit, I am somewhat surprised that a fully refundable B fare wouldn’t map over to allow complimentary seat selection.

Given that it is a fully refundable fare it does mean I might just go find another routing and Lufthansa can lose my money for this sort of nickel and diming…
Hey - So in my case, the sequence of events was like this:
  1. I booked a AC-marketed (014 stock) Latitude (B fare) ticket on AC.com with 2 LH-operated intra-Europe legs. (Not relevant to this discussion, but I was able to immediately confirm my upgrades for the AC legs.)
  2. Immediately after ticketing, I successfully selected seats for the AC legs on AC.com and the LH legs on LH.com, with the LH seat selection flow indicating a seat selection fee of "included in fare".
  3. Some weeks later, and without any notification, I noticed by happenstance that my seat selection for the first LH leg had vanished. I called AC's Concierge Desk, which was able to reselect a seat for me without charge. I drew the conclusion that AC ate the charge because I received an email receipt from AC showing that the seat selection would have cost CAD 31, but that it was somehow waived with a "AO_TRAVELING_WITH_TOP_TIER" code and "AASFREE" as the form of payment.
  4. Some more weeks later, and again without notification, the seat selection on the second LH leg also vanished. I called AC's Concierge Desk again, which was once again able to reselect a seat for me without charge. But I did not receive a receipt this time so not sure if a different procedure was followed or if I will lose this seat again at some point.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
