Well, after sending about 8 emails asking if it is illegal to serve booze on the ground at YYZ in First Class, and not getting a clear answer, this was their last reply:

"There are restrictions from international destinations that would allow alcohol to be served before taking off. Having seen the circumstances from another perspective, I've made arrangements for a $75.00 Trip Credit to be sent to you via a separate email to use toward the purchase of a ticket for travel on American Airlines or American EagleŽ within one year from the date of issue, unless otherwise listed."
