I feel the same about the standard of hotel we are sometimes encouraged to chose! I try to adhere to 'If I wouldn't stay there for leisure, I certainly won't be doing it for work' as far as possible, but it's not always possible, sadly and my collegues have ended up in some shocking pits over the years.
