Which is why I rolled my eyes when one of the statements in response to my complaint was "Catering team also goes through an extensive process of selecting, testing and choosing the freshest ingredients to serve to our international customers onboard." It's obvious that it came from a person sitting behind a desktop who's never tasted the food.
Sadly I imagine a lot of the ingredients are shipped into DOH frozen, QR F out of DOH is not like JL F out of HND/NRT where many ingredients are actually sourced locally. I think I've posted here several times before that I find the catering ex-DOH is mediocre and a step below e.g. LHR and CDG on QR which are both consistently excellent quality. I'm not clear if they give a higher budget for those flights or the caterer is just better.
