Luggage Allowance Jetstar/Qantas - what is it?
Hi, I have been looking and have booked a flight from Cairns to Learmonth via Perth. I have been trying to understand the luggage allowance and spoke to Qantas yesterday who confirmed a 23KG allowance, which matched what I had read on the Qantas website. I just booked the flight on the Qantas website with the CNS-PER on JetStar and PER-LEA on Qantaslink- Network Aviation as one booking. The JetStar flight is JQ and the second flight is QF. On the e-ticket it does not show a specific weight but does have general information indicating 23KG for JQ and QF flights. I note on the Qantas website that the allowance changed for bookings after Feb 23.
I phoned Qantas who said there is only a 20KG allowance but I would get an extra 3KG as I am BA Bronze/ OW Ruby that I believe is Qantas Silver.
In the JetStar website it shows 0KG. I phoned them and they said this is because I booked with Qantas.
I have never travelled in Australia before but this seems very complex. Does anyone have experience on luggage allowance on mix of JetStar and Qantas domestic flight booked with Qantas? I really don't understand it and speaking to Qantas and JetStar doesn't help getting simple answers as they refer me to each other.
If I want to buy additional luggage do I need to pay both airlines or will the checked luggage be checked through to the destination by JetStar? When I go through manage my booking it refers me to JetStar who want to upsell me from no checked luggage and Qantas have a message saying the PER-LEA additional luggage can only be purchased at the airport.
I probably only need 25KG but want to avoid the potential high cost of buying at the airport and need to know what allowance I should have. Any advice would be very welcome.

Reason: clarity on luggage being checked through to destination
