My husband and I are flying from LAX to Samoa (APW) via AKL. About a week later we will fly from APW-AKL and stay in NZ indefinitely. We have two full-size bags and two carry-on size bags. What we would like to do is check the full-size bags to Auckland, collect them at AKL baggage claim, take them to the storage service at AKL (secure-travel.co.nz), then continue to APW with just our carry-ons. Then return to AKL and pick up our full-size bags after our holiday in Samoa.

Is this something we can request from the check-in staff at LAX? That they check it only to AKL? I will call Secure Travel and ask if they know if this is possible too. But I just thought the FlyerTalk brains trust may have some knowledge on this. If it’s important, we are AirPoints members but have no special status and we are flying economy.
