That makes sense if you’re thinking from the perspective of London-originating tourists or businesspeople: a flight leaving in the morning is more appealing for them so they can get most of the day in NYC.

For returning NYC residents or returning tourists from NYC, I suspect the later timed flights are more attractive: why pay for a hotel night in London only to leave early in the morning to fly back home?
