Surely the worst cases (other then being denied boarding right at the start) is the OP being sent back to their departure point which the UKBF may be more likely to do than detain and send on their merry way the next morning.
That is theoretically possible I'll grant you but based on the fact the OP is staying overnight I'd wager there is a high chance there's no flights back to where they came from that day. If there are, it tilts the scales.
