No cars available
My better half just experienced a no cars available situation. She had pre booked (not pre paid) a reservation for pick up on Tuesday (via Costco Travel) at a franchisee location. Showed up and was told absolutely no cars available regardless of booking class. She was told cars should be available come Wednesday.
While she didn't absolutely need the car, it was still a pain in the backside. Come Wednesday, and after back and forth phone calls, she is finally given a car. Lower class than her booked fare but at this point she doesn't care. The person she spoke to a few times was not particularly helpful and happened to be the person who assisted her at pick up. She was so frustrated that she didn't bother to ask about prorating the fee for the first missed day and I don't think it was acknowledged on pick up.
I'm assuming that she is well within reason to request a final total which is less the one day rental for the missed day? And if push came to shove she could expect more given the smaller car than booked, but at this stage I think she is happy to have a car regardless.
For the record, both she and I have rented from this location many times over the years and have never had an issue getting a car in booked class or higher on the day and have always had great service. In fact the owner of this franchise went above and beyond on an issue this past December which is why I suggested she book here versus the Enterprise across the street which was a few bucks cheaper.
She'll be returning the car next week, and told her that she should be asking for a prorated total based on the missed day at the very least.
