Checking bags this afternoon at MSP in Sky Priority lane. There is also a Delta One lane. Two agents working, after 30 min of no one in Sky Priority called to counter the gentleman in front of me went to counter to ask why no one from Sky is able to check bags. He was told that until Delta One line is empty no Sky Priority. Later, a red coat came and opened a spot and when I asked him how Delta One vs Sky works, he informed me that Delta One passengers pay a lot to fly so others need to wait. I am just platinum but the guy in front of me had a 2MM tag, the other gentleman was polite but annoyed as were the 15 other people behind us in line. Is this really the protocol?
Doesn’t surprise me, disappointing as it is. With MSP, DL seem to think that bare bones staffing is fine and the self-service kiosks should have the customers doing the work and get patiently squeezed in if the customers’ circumstances aren’t straight and simple for DL.
You should see how it went at MSP with dealing with DL for AF flights on AF tickets originating out of MSP when there was a problem last summer — it had me wanting to say “Oh, la vache!” and realizing Delta’s thin on the bench and A and even B team players aren’t what Delta’s out there fielding. And also, too often they even make up bizarre stuff about not being able to interline bags across separately issued tickets even for circumstances where DL policy is to thru-check bags across separate tickets. With UA and AA out of MSP, at least the check-in experience is consistent for me.
