Recently went though the application for the Gold card and was rejected due to "too many new cards." Am trying to understand why they denied my application and what they classify as a new card. The newest card I was approved for was in April, but before then would have been in August. Would those cards be considered "new" enough to AmEx to use that as the reason?

My score is around 750. Pay off all my cards on time and in full. Perhaps they saw my payment history and figured that I wouldn't make them money. This would also have been my very first AmEx card. I did first use the pre-approval tool, otherwise would not have bothered applying.

If I still feel like attempting to reapply, in your experience, how long should I wait? I've read here and there that 30days is enough, but that seems rather soon. What do you think?
