Yeah the thing that would be odd about this is they specifically called out in their investor presentation that their major fleet modernization project was replacing the 757 with the A321neo and the 767 with the A339.
So if that's the case, adding A351s would seem to suggest they are adding pure lift because it's unlikely they would've published slides yesterday showing a 767 --> A339 modernization focus and then suddenly switch that to a 767 --> A351 modernization project.
Also this seems to just be a rehash of the order that Bloomberg was reporting back in May and maybe those talks are just becoming more tangible and based on changing delivery slots Delta was able to accelerate some portion of that deal:

Delta has played games before to get better deals - I heard (hearsay) that the A321's (ceo, not neo) were basically "tossed in" with their A350 and A330-900 order). I mean, we're talking airplanes, not Happy Meals.
