Just wanted to share my experience and perhaps get some questions to what occurred with checked bags. Business from ORD to MUC and then overnight and flight from MUC - VIE - CAI, and waited in a short line, 2 people in front at ORD, to make sure we could pick up our bags at Munich since our arrival was around 9:30 am and we were not flying to Vienna until 8:30 am the next day. Wait and wait because at ORD United has only two staff members who both were busy trying to help people with issues. 20 minutes later finally got up to the counter, and the agent was checking our bags all the way through to Cairo. I showed him UAL's policy about overnight and more than 12 hours but he said he couldn't label them only to Munich and mentioned skip lagging. Well, that wasted time, and the Polaris lounge at ORD sucks. One hour wait to order a burger. What a waste of time there.

Arrived in Munich and lo and behold I go to Lufthansa luggage to get our bags pulled and an hour later we finally get our bags. So what am I missing here, was I in the wrong and reading the policy correctly. Exact same issue last year with Swiss out of ORD, ZRH onto BUD, and did the same thing at Zurich - had them pull the bags and waste an hour.
