For me, booking a reward or cash flight direct on QR if it’s a long way off would be most sensible. They’re certainly easy to deal with direct for changes / cancellations. Their chat system is very good and agents empowered for a variety of changes. Not so much I’ve found in the phone… however if it’s soon and plans are set in stone, then can’t see a reason why you wouldn’t book with BA.com
