Good news, I was able to resolve this issue. As near as I can tell, my Flying Blue account was deleted because of lack of use, but only after I had booked tickets and attached the FF# to them. As I was not able to get ahold of anyone I ended up creating a new Flying Blue account and claimed the miles for the flights from that. Fortunately that worked, even though the tickets had my prior FF# on them.
