I am flying DXB <> HND on business class saver redemption (75k miles each way). The auto-upgrade to First class on the outbound is 70,980 miles which would make the total of 145,980 which is 4,980 more than a regular First redemption (which isn't currently available). Does anybody know how many points an upgrade would be at check-in, assuming availability? I am deciding whether to snatch the auto-upgrade if it comes up, or chance it at check-in.
